New Fansite Q&A!

SC2Pod.com - May 07, 2009

The third fansite, SC2Pod, has been given the glory of having some of their Starcraft 2 questions answered by the Blizzard Development team. This rounds Q&A features more technical questions about Starcraft 2's compatibility with wide-screens, its current art scheme, as well as some unit descriptions. One especially interesting question gives us a more in-depth understanding of the insurmountable task Blizzard faces in the creation of Starcraft 2.

11. What have been some of the hardest choices you have had to make during the development of StarCraft II?

Dustin Browder] There have been many tough choices in designing StarCraft II – Amongst the most difficult would be what parts of the original StarCraft should be in StarCraft II. Next would be what new mechanics are worthy of introduction to the StarCraft universe. Balancing visual appeal with the serious game play that StarCraft has always offered has always been challenging as well. Overall, we hope that the choices we have made will give our players the best possible StarCraft II experience.

Happy 11th StarCraft & April Fools!

StarCraftZone.com - April 02, 2009

Congratulations on submitting for the Starcraft 2 FSP beta registration! This e-mail is confirmation that your submission has been received and is valid. Unfortunately, in true April Fool's Day tradition, you have been duped! APRIL FOOLS! Despair not, it's not as bad as it seems!

We have no beta keys to distribute at the moment but, as promised, all users who submitted for today's registration will be eligible for a fansite beta key drawing when the real beta begins. No other users will be eligible for this drawing - only those who participated in today's event. So a gigantic "HAHA!" to all of those who thought this wasn't for real because they are the ones who really got fooled. We really are going to give away beta keys!

We hope you enjoyed your 24 hours of suspense and we hope you have found a laugh and perhaps some excitement today as we surely have. We look forward to the Starcraft 2 beta just as much as you do, and we hope you'll stay tuned for when the actual beta is released, as we will be hosting additional contests and drawings for beta keys.

Again, all users who have submitted an e-mail to sc2beta@gmail.com prior to 10:00 p.m. (PST) are eligible for a Starcraft 2 Beta Key drawing from the participating fansites. Users will be identified by their e-mail submissions, so please make sure your e-mail remains valid so you can be contacted.

Thank you for your participation! And Happy Birthday StarCraft! Oh, by the way, we baked a cake. Enjoy a slice, won't you?

StarCraftZone IRC Now Available

starcraftzone.com - February 03, 2009

Our Live Chat feature recently underwent a new change with the decision to switch to irc. Although the previous java chat software was great locally, it wasn't quite accessible beyond the confines of the site. We hope this will open up the community and provide a beneficial tool in getting to know the SCZ community and its staff.

Be sure to check it out from the Live Chat link on the navigation menu from the left!

SCZ Gallery Now With PicLens Support

starcraftzone.com - August 01, 2008

scz-piclens

PicLens, a firefox addon, is now fully supported for use in our gallery section! This is a great way to quickly and efficiently browse all of our screenshots, artwork and other media across our entire database.

To use PicLens, be sure to install the addon via FireFox's tools menu, selecting Add-ons and searching for 'PicLens'. For those without it, you can still click the PicLens icon image on our main gallery page to view an in-browser 'lite' version of the software.

Hope you enjoy!

StarCraftZone.com - July 04, 2008

Statistics

Resident member, Imperial-Guard, recently wrote an in-depth article on the oft-debated MBS that looks to be included in StarCraft 2. Many points are discussed on both sides of the issue and provides a new perspective on the subject. Worth a read!
