The Insider recently sat down with Nick Carpenter, Blizzard's cinematic creative director, for a behind-the-scenes look at the StarCraft II cinematic teaser recently released at the Worldwide Invitational, as well as to discuss the challenges involved with continuing the single-player storyline from the original game.

Highlights include Concept, Storytelling, and Technology used in creating this cinematic masterpiece.

Marine Shields Information

Blizzard Forums - June 01, 2007

Some new information about the Marine shields has been discovered on the Battle.net Forums.

In response to a posters concern about the shields, a Blizzard employee replied with, "At this time, the Marine will be appearing as the classic standalone unit, but with a defensive upgrade they will then wield the arm-mounted shields."

No StarCraft 2 in 2007

Blizzard - May 31, 2007

Although many anticipated a release for StarCraft II by the end of this year, unfortunately it is not going to happen.

Blizzard announced to MSNBC today that the game will not make it out for the hoped holiday season of 2007.

When asked about the game's release date, Blizzard vice president of game design Rob Pardo said, "The only thing I can give you [that's] concrete is it's not going to be this year. Some people were hoping, because of how advanced the game looks, that we'd have it out by Christmas, but that's definitely not happening."

StarCraft 2 Gameplay Video Released

SEOUL, South Korea - May 22, 2007

Last night Blizzard released the first gameplay footage to the public for StarCraft 2. This 24 minute movie shows us some of the things we can expect to see in StarCraft 2 such as the new units and graphical aesthetics of the game.

Some of the new units include the protoss Stalker, Colossus, and Mother Ship, which all proved to dominate in certain situations. The movie dramatically ends with an all out war between the terran and protoss, with an unexpecting guest lurking below.
