StarCraft 2 is definitely not the same as the original StarCraft with better graphics, it comes with revolutionary new changes in gameplay. Here is an organized list of everything that you will find when playing StarCraft 2 that you have never seen in the original.

Auto-Casting allows certain units to cast spells automatically, without the need to be commanded to do so. This feature makes it easier for players to manage their armies by reducing the number of commands to be given.

Destructible Doodads are obstacles that can appear in certain maps. Unlike ordinary doodads, they can be destroyed by any player on the battlefield by issuing an attack order against it.

High Concentrated Minerals give the player a higher amount of minerals returned per cycle. While ordinary blue minerals give 8 minerals per cycle, yellow minerals give 12, allowing the player to get a faster economy. This allows for very interesting strategical possibilities. Risk a dangerous expansion for faster money, or a safer one but with slower income?

The Xel'Naga Observatory Towers are neutral buildings that can appear in certain maps. These towers reveal a broad radius of territory when captured by a player. To capture one of them, simply move a unit next to them and the fog of war around it will be lifted. Observatory Towers give a new strategical aspect for the game, for reconnaissance is a key advantage to victory.

Build Queuing allow players to construct building consecutively with less commands. By holding the shift key and ordering your SCV/Probe to make more than one building, it will construct the first and move on to the next one once it's finished, repeating until all the buildings you queued up are finished.

In the original StarCraft, players had to constantly order their mining units to start gathering resources. If you rallied them to the minerals they wouldn't automatically start gathering. With Auto-Gather, StarCraft 2 mining units will automatically start mining once they are rallied to the minerals or gas.
