StarCraft 2: Important Figures

Important Figures

Following the events after Brood War, many well-known figures have come and gone. In StarCraft 2, many have made their return. Below is a list of important figures that will play important roles in the new sequel.

Raynor

Jim Raynor - Full Bio

Jim Raynor is commanding the Hyperion, along with his second-in-command Matt Horner. With his crew lacking the proper funding and having to deal with a tremendous amount of work, Jim Raynor steals unknown artifacts from a Protoss colony hoping they will be bought by a group called the Moebius Foundation. He is not the same man he was in the original series. He drinks heavily and feels bitter about Arcturus Mengsk using him and is now leading a mercenary/freedom-fighter group against the dominion.

Zeratul - Full Bio

Zeratul is a Dark Templar prelate who was exiled from Aiur for refusing to join the Khala. After the events of Brood War, Zeratul is troubled by the knowledge that Zerg/Protoss hybrids are being engineered by Samir Duran. Little is known about his whereabouts afterwards, but it is known, however, that he is on his search for clues on what could be the meaning of his findings. He makes his reappearance on the Hyperion, when he appears wounded to Jim Raynor and says: "I bring tidings of doom. The Xel'Naga return. The Cycle nears its end. The artifacts... are the key... to the end of all things".

Kerrigan

Kerrigan

Sarah Kerrigan was once a confederate Ghost, who was later betrayed by Mengsk and was infested by the Zerg on Tarsonis. After mustering her forces she is able to overwhelm both Protoss and Terran and take dominace in Brood War. Even with the victory, however, she senses a threat lurking over the horizon. In the years after the Brood War she has relocated to Char, retreated her forces to Char, and has since then been quiet. Her withdrawal has little to do with any suspicion she has of Samir Duran, but mostly because she, like Zeratul, is beginning to piece together Duran's motives.

Arcturus Mengsk

Arcturus Mengsk

Arcturus Mengsk is the leader of the rebellious group called Sons of Korhal. Together they brought down the previous Terran order, the Confederacy. Soon he became Emperor Mengsk, leader of the newly founded Terran Dominion. Not soon after he was attacked by the UED (United Earth Directorate) and sought an alliance with Kerrigan, who betrayed him and nearly destroyed all his forces afterwards. Crippled, he retreats and starts to reform a new Terran Dominion, with the help of his son Valerian Mengsk. However, there is still opposition from several group of militia, Raynor's included.

Valerian Mengsk

Valerian Mengsk

Being a disciple of martial arts, Valerian is an arrogant but brilliant person, and a great archeologist as well. He was raised in secrecy on various worlds during the Sons of Korhal's ascension. Valerian plans to make his own name once he gains control of the Dominion.

Tychus Finlay

Tychus Finlay

Tychus Finlay is a convicted heavyweight criminal from Mar Sara, sentenced for murder, piracy, theft, larncey, and narcotics offenses, and is also suspected of many other crimes. He was originally sentenced to death, but was later commuted for service in the Marine Corps. He is now in service of Jim Raynor, but still maintains a slight doubt regarding Jim Raynor's capabilities.

Selendis

Selendis

Selendis is the Protoss' Executor in the StarCraft 2 campaign. She is a dedicated Protoss leader. Once a student of Artanis, she now is eager to reclaim Aiur from the Zerg. Under her command, many new Protoss technologies have been developed to preserve protoss lives in battle. She "represents the best and brightest of what the Protoss can be-- fiercely loyal to her race's ideals, completely dedicated and focused beyond any mere human capacity."
